A local company, founded in 1878, opened a larger customer foodstore a few months back. They’ve always had a small shop here and there but their main focus has always been as a wholesale suppliers to pubs, restaurants, etc...
but a short while ago they opened a new foodstore.
Cafe upstairs.
At first glance it reminded me of the new fire station architecture that’s spread over the U.K.
Minus the garage doors.
It was okay. Had a good gnatter with staff, more range in most things but less in range than the other butcher I go to. My other butchers has a larger wine and beer range, here it was chardonnay, malber, sauvi gnon blanc, pinot noir and pinot grigio.
Still, got a few flat iron steaks, a nice ribeye steak, pork chops, sliced cooked ham and a kilo of back bacon, om nom nom.
Got a couple of bacon butties (buttered rolls) with six rasher of bacon each, oh yes, and a couple of fresh steak pies (the beef was so tender).
So much bacon, so beautiful.
Nice, but not as good as my usual butchers, again a local company since 1914.
Which also has a tea room and a swimming pool*
*this is a separate entity but you can go directly from one into the other.

Ye’, Pioneer went with a modern (fire station looking) building while Cranstons went with a barn style.

From what I could see, they didn’t sell it.
But at our store on Sunday, a scuffle broke out when a colleague brought a pallet of toilet tissue onto the shop floor to fill the aisle. People started taking it off the pallet as it was moving.

Jesus. Went to my local grocer to grab some produce. Everyone seemed extra friendly with each other. They finally ran out of TP, but if it comes down to it, I’ll just head north and harvest some cowboy toilette paper.
